This was the complimentary breakfast. Oh boy! (plus a small glass of cheap orange juice)
Good thing I’m taking Saxenda or else I would have been left unsatisfied by the breakfast.
I checked in at 10pm when there were 4 staff behind the counter, and yet only 1 person was handling check ins. The wait was only 5 minutes and the staff gave me a handy dandy map.
The room itself was nice. I booked a basic room and ended up with a Queen High Floor room. It had a couch and a desk. There were not many options for lighting. It was either super bright or super dark.
I didn’t have time to make use of the gym or laundry facilities, but I think charging 45 HKD for self service laundry is a bit much, that’s like $6 or $7 USD. At checkout the staff were friendly, no complaints there.
Breakfast was odd. I got a voucher to the restaurant on the second floor where we could choose from 4 set meals, two of them were vegetarian.
One seemed unhealthy and the other one seemed interesting. Not much protein at all but it tasted good. The croissant was not fresh, but not even Intercontinental hotels would have fresh croissants. The portions were small. I’m used to HIE having buffets, so this was odd. Breakfast service also started at 7:30AM, which is not great if you were trying to eat breakfast before a morning flight. The seating area was big and well, classy yet stuck in the 80s. The choice of orange juice, tea, or coffee was also disappointing. The orange juice tasted cheap and we had a small serving of it.
